BJP’s Karnataka unit to launch stir against quota for minorities.....
BJP’s Karnataka unit is meeting here on Thursday to chalk out an agitation path, against the recommendation of the Ranganath Mishra Commission on reservation for minorities.
The party’s State president K.S. Eshwarappa told reporters here that Ministers, MPs, legislators and State and district officer-bearers would attend it.
Eshwarappa said the recommendation’s implementation would not be “tolerated” by dalits and backward classes. This recommendation is an “injustice” for them, he said.
He said the recommendation would encourage religious conversion to Islam and Christianity.
He said the February 25 meeting would also discuss BJP’s preparations for gram panchayat elections, expected in April.
BJP would appoint an election in-charge in each gram panchayats while the party office-bearers and Ministers would be in-charge of various districts vis-a-vis polls.
On BJP government deciding to allow mining in some reserved forests, he said it’s as per constitution. “Mining would not be allowed if it hurt and harmed environment”, he said.
Eshwarappa also released the list of state BJP office-bearers – Vice-Presidents, General Secretaries, Secretaries, Treasurer and Spokesman.
He said women have been given 33 per cent representation in the list, while the party has also considerably reduced the number of legislators who also served as office-bearers.
